Five for Friday- Back to School!

This has been a fabulous first week at A.C. Steere!
All of my kiddos performed skits on school rules. They had to perform a skit of what it looks like to NOT follow the rule as well as what it looks like to follow the rule. This is a picture from my third period class.
Today we worked on our Friday Five (The Daily Five) for the first time.
Students working on a journal entry of their choice.

Reading to someone using a science fiction passage and answering comprehension questions

Vocabulary journal writing- Students had four words to look up and answer questions about.
Loving my hall passes! My students have taken really good care of my classroom materials! You can find this at SparkledWhimsy on Etsy.
I added a larger carpet over my computer wires, and I moved my little carpet over the Internet cable. My computer wasn't getting wireless, so my hubby hooked up my computer with an ethernet chord.
I received this fabulous gem from PandSMonogram in the mail today! I can't wait to wear it next Friday!

Happy weekend everyone!

Workin' on it Wednesday!

I'm linking up with Kinder Gals today to share with you what I've been working on this week.

1) I am working on my next novel study unit for The Apprenticeship of Lucas Whitaker. So far I just have a vocabulary list and an image for the cover of the unit. Hopefully I'll have some previews for you soon!
Here is the image for the cover of the unit. The image is of an old-school stethoscope from the 1850's. In the novel, Lucas's family dies of consumption (tuberculosis) and becomes an apprentice for a doctor.
The quote, "Truth is stranger than fiction." is from the novel as well. If you purchase this shirt, you will receive a FREE copy of the unit when I am finished. :)

2) I've been working really hard on my classroom this week. I am at a new school so I've had to go through a lot, organize, and decorate. I'm not even close to finished, but here are some preview pics! (Sorry for the poor lighting. I had my windows opened).

The middle board is for the unit we are working on. The first unit will be "Ideas". We will be studying Einstein, the Wright Brothers, and other inventors.

Lockers

This is my schedule and announcement board. Above it are my classroom rules.

Another view of my back boards.

3) I'm currently running a giveaway on my latest unit that I just finished working on! Check {HERE} for more info! Enter to win below!

Five for Friday

This is what's been going on this week!

If you've been keeping up with my blog, you know I just returned from the Whole Brain Teaching National Conference. I really enjoyed hanging with these lovely ladies and learning some new strategies. :)

This is my crazy cat Teemo. He is more like a dog than a cat. lol Currently my classroom is residing in my living room. It's is a "cat"astrophy. He finds pencils and paper and drags them around the house and climbs on top of all my boxes. He is adorable, but nuts. He loves playing with ice. In this picture he jumped up on the freezer while I was getting ice for my drink. I usually will give him a piece of ice to play with, but he was impatient last night. haha

I bought these amazing pants from Old Navy on Tuesday. I'm a shortie, so I have to get them hemmed. I cannot wait to wear these oh so comfy pants to work!

I'm really enjoying creating my teacher clothing and goods! My hubby, Treg, loves my new design. I think it's pretty rad too!

I just purchased 20 copies of this book for my classroom. This is another novel study we will be doing. After I finish my Albert Einstien book study unit, I'll be working on this one. I've found pretty good deals on the books I've been ordering. This book was the most expensive so far. I'm guessing it's because it's not as popular as others. I'm very excited about this one though! I absolutely love science and medicine. I'm sure my 5th graders will get into it too! :)

Welp, that's all for today. I look forward to reading other blogger's five for friday posts!
